I have had the pleasure of being the head teacher here since September 2012 and I have to say that Leavening Community Primary is the perfect village school! A real sense of community and belonging exists here. I am excited to be building on the fantastic opportunities that our children have here, to ensure their childhoods are enriched through excellence in learning and outstanding care.
We have a thriving nursery and Early Years provision catering for children aged 3-11 years. We also have exceptional outdoor learning opportunities and an outstanding curriculum.
I would warmly welcome visits to the school so you can see for yourself how wonderful it is. Thank you.

Pupils say ~
‘You learn it yourself, it’s not just teachers talking at you. It is a better way of learning.’
‘We got lots of say in what we learn and how we learn; our teachers really listen to us.’

OFSTED says ~
"This is a good school. Pupils say, ‘Small school but big learning!’ This sums up their good achievement which is underpinned by an exceptionally rich curriculum. Pupils make good progress from starting points that are generally below average. By the end of Year 6, their attainment is above average in English, especially in reading, and broadly average in mathematics. Fewer pupils reach the higher levels for their age in mathematics compared to English. The accuracy of pupils’ spelling in Key Stage 2 does not always match the good quality of their punctuation, vocabulary and paragraphing."
"Teaching is consistently good with some that is outstanding. Teachers use up-to-date technology effectively to make teaching points clear and to enliven pupils’ learning. Learning through discovery and investigation are key factors in pupils’ good achievement. Lessons are lively, interesting and fun. Pupils are fully involved in checking their work and so they understand what to do to improve it."
"Pupils behave well. They enjoy coming to school and their attendance is high. Pupils enjoy playing with their friends. Lessons are rarely interrupted because pupils are keen to learn and they respect their teachers and classmates. The school is a well-ordered, safe environment and older pupils are proud of their role in helping to make it so."
"Leaders, managers and the governing body have a clear vision for excellence. This is evident in the outstanding curriculum and pupils’ outstanding spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. The impact is seen in pupils’ high levels of confidence, independence and willingness to learn. The school has made significant progress since the last inspection in terms of raising pupils’ achievement, improving the quality of provision across the school and developing a thriving Early Years Foundation Stage...."
"…..The curriculum is outstanding because it has a profound impact on pupils’ spiritual, moral social and cultural development…."
"……The result is articulate and ambitious young people who know how to achieve their goals."
